By Kris Nwosu | My Perspective
The central question.
I voluntarily left banking after 32 years, having concluded that professional position and personal fulfillment are not interchangeable. Retirement offered something valuable: the freedom to rethink what achievement means beyond a title.
Why it matters
Older professionals possess practical judgment acquired through success, disappointment and difficult decisions. That wisdom can strengthen younger entrepreneurs, families, schools and community institutions.
But mentorship must be reciprocal: experience should listen to fresh ideas rather than insist that the past provides every answer.
My Perspective
Retirement is also a legitimate season for rest, health, friendship and family. The point is not to replace one demanding career with another. It is to exercise the freedom to contribute where one can, and to enjoy life without guilt.
For reflection
What would meaningful progress on this issue look like in your own organization, family or community?
